IHF Challenge: Nigeria's under-20 gets crucial victory at Continental Phase in Congo
Nigeria's under-20 male team defeated Rwanda on Day 4 of the IHF Trophy Continental Phase ongoing in Brazzaville, Congo.
Coach Fidelis Obi's side did their business brusquely as they defeated a tough Rwandan team 44-32 to put pressure on Guinea and Congo on the log.
U-20s make it three wins in three
The Nigerian under-20s have fully found their feet at the IHF Challenge Trophy in Congo.
The U-20s have gone from losing 28-26 to Guinea in their tournament's opener to winning three on the bounce.
A comprehensive 51-30 win over Madagascar in their second game of the tournament was followed by another excellent win over Zimbabwe, with Nigeria winning that encounter 50-19.
After the latest win, they will play host Congo in a make or mar match and hope a win will help them be in the conversation for qualification for the intercontinental championship. The time of the match is 5 pm.
The U-18s
Meanwhile, Nigeria's under-18 team will return to the court after a day's rest.
The coach Emeka Nnamani's tutored side was not a part of the action on day 4 after winning their opening three matches in the competition.
They will, however, return to the court on day four when they will play Guinea in what is expected to be an explosive tie between the two teams at 3 pm.
A win for them will see Nigeria qualify for the IHF Challenge Trophy Intercontinental Championship.
