If they keep on... - Alan Shearer reveals how Arsenal can get the best out of Viktor Gyokeres
Legendary Premier League striker Alan Shearer has offered Arsenal players key advice on how to maximise the potential of new signing Viktor Gyokeres.
The Swedish striker continued his strong start to life at the Emirates with his third goal for the Gunners, scoring in their 3-0 victory over Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
He doubled Arsenal’s lead early in the second half, finishing off a precise cross from Eberechi Eze, adding to his brace against Leeds United in the previous fixture.
What Shearer said
Speaking on his post-match analysis, Shearer highlighted the importance of providing Gyokeres with early service inside the box.
“I think to get the best out of Viktor, he’s going to need early balls into the box,” Shearer explained.
“If Arsenal continue to do that… they still didn’t get the balance right as I said at half time, but I thought it was a little bit better in the second half when Calafiori whipped one or two early balls in. He’ll get a shed load of goals if they keep on getting balls into the box early.”
Arsenal’s dominant display against Forest temporarily lifted them to the top of the Premier League table after four matches played.
Gyokeres, who joined from Sporting Lisbon in the summer, has quickly established himself as a reliable goal threat, with Shearer predicting even greater numbers if Arsenal adjust their attacking approach.
