‘I don't know’ - Ferdinand give one condition for him to meet with John Terry
His comment comes following an issue regarding the high-profile racism incident involving his brother, Anton Ferdinand.
The controversy dates back to a 2011 Premier League match between Queens Park Rangers and Chelsea.
Anton Ferdinand accused Terry of using racially abusive language towards him, an allegation that led to significant consequences.
Terry was stripped of the England captaincy, handed a four-match ban, and fined £220,000 by the Football Association.
What Ferdinand said
The former Manchester United defender, who now hosts a successful football podcast, has made it clear that Terry is off-limits until he resolves the long-standing issue with Anton.
Reflecting on the aftermath, Anton has previously spoken about feeling like the guilty party and enduring further racial abuse following the incident.
When asked by The Times if he would ever have Terry on his show, Rio Ferdinand laid out his prerequisite.
"I don't know," he said. "I think he probably needs to speak to my brother before he speaks to me. And he’s not spoken to my brother."
The original incident saw Terry charged with racial abuse, though he was later cleared in a criminal court.
Terry maintained that he was asking Anton, "Oi, Anton, do you think I called you a black c*?" and not directing the slur at him.
Despite being acquitted in court, the FA pursued its own charges against the then-Chelsea captain for using "abusive and/or insulting words or behaviour" that "included a reference to the ethnic origin and/or race of Ferdinand." Terry chose not to appeal the FA's ruling and issued an apology for the language he used.
