Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has declared that Nigeria will not give up on qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup despite being written off by many observers.
Nigeria currently sits fourth in their qualification group with seven points, trailing leaders South Africa by six points.
Rwanda and Benin are tied on eight points in second and third respectively, while only the group winner earns an automatic ticket to the tournament in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
What Chelle said
Speaking ahead of the decisive run of fixtures, Chelle insisted his side can still turn things around.
“Many people have written us off already. But I am determined. We have four games left to play, and my players and I will do all we can to win those games,” he said.
The Super Eagles face Rwanda in Uyo next month before an important home clash with group leaders South Africa.
In October, they will travel to Lesotho and then host Benin in their final group match.
