Football Kenya Federation president Hussein Mohammed has outlined plans for transport and other preparations ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.

Hussein Mohammed is currently in Morocco for AFCON 2025, observing operations to gather insights for a successful tournament at home.

While acknowledging that significant work still lies ahead, the FKF president praised the Kenyan government’s support in ensuring smooth preparations.

Hussein Mohammed explained that the Kenyan government had demonstrated strong dedication not just to football but to national infrastructure as a whole.

He expressed his confidence that many initiatives were being implemented quietly behind the scenes and that the president had vowed to do everything necessary to ensure the success of upcoming projects.

Hussein Mohammed added that the collaboration between the federation and the government was very close, extending to partnerships with the private sector, and emphasised that the government’s support would play a crucial role in delivering a memorable experience for fans.

“The government of Kenya has shown commitment in terms of infrastructure, and it’s not only in football but generally. I’m sure there is a lot of work going on behind the scenes, and the president has promised that he will stop at nothing to ensure everything works out,” he said.

“The relationship between the government and the federation is very strong, and we are working together, even with the private sector, but the government has been a fundamental pillar, and they will give fans an exceptional experience.”

Hussein Mohammed: Morocco Have Set a New Bar

Hussein Mohammed said that as the next hosts, Kenya aimed to elevate the tournament and expand its reach across the region.

He noted the importance of maintaining focus on event organisation while continuously improving standards, and acknowledged that there was still a considerable amount of work to be done.

Mohammed added that he had been impressed by Morocco’s approach, highlighting the high level of quality, organisation, and dedication required to reach their standards, which he described as setting a new benchmark for the competition.

“As the next hosts, we aim to make it better and expand it within the region. I think it’s important that we stay focused on how we organise our events and also make sure that we keep improving the standards. There is a lot of work ahead of us,” he added.

“What I’ve noticed is that there is no compromise in terms of quality, in terms of organisation, in terms of commitment that you need to put in to achieve what Morocco have. They have set a new bar, a new standard. I’m very impressed by the team.”
