Hamilton still leans on Wolff for life advice as friendship endures beyond Mercedes
Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff revealed that former Silver Arrows driver Lewis Hamilton still seeks his advice on matters of the heart.
Speaking to The Wall Street Journal, Wolff discussed his relationship with Hamilton, reflecting on the start of 2024 when Hamilton announced his departure from Mercedes to join Ferrari.
Wolff explained that the team made every effort to maintain a positive atmosphere despite the impending split.
“When he decided to leave, it could have become very awkward, almost hostile, and we actively discussed how to avoid that. We all put in a lot of effort to manage the situation well.
"He remains a friend of the team. Sometimes he visits me in my office on weekends. He talks to the engineers, grabs some food. After many races, we travel together."
"So we gather the old gang: Valtteri Bottas, George Russell, Lewis Hamilton, and I fly together. Look, on the track, we want to beat him, there's no doubt about that."
"But our partnership lasted 12 years; we trust each other. Through his eyes, I experience a different life. He tells me which women he's flirting with and dating, asks whether he should pursue someone or not, and I tell him what to do," said Wolff.
