Gor Mahia are exploring the possibility of seeking the intervention of world football governing body FIFA after Tunisian club Etoile du Sahel failed to honour a transfer agreement.

K’Ogalo sold defender Alphonce Omija to the 11-time Tunisian champions in September 2025 but club Secretary General Nick Arum says they have not received a penny from the North African club up to now.

Arum adds that their attempts to contact Etoile du Sahel have proved futile as they do not respond to their calls or letters, leaving them with no option but to seek legal redress at FIFA.

“We have a case with Etoile Sportive du Sahel. They have never paid the club a single cent, yet they took our player,” Arum told SportPesa Blog.

“We will report them to FIFA soon. The agreed transfer fee was USD50,000 (Ksh6.4 million), and we have not received anything at all. We have written countless letters regarding this issue, but they have not responded.”

Etoile du Sahel Giving Empty Promises

Omija joined Etoile du Sahel one year after returning to the record Kenyan champions from Omani side Al Dhofar SC and weeks after an impressive show at the 2024 African Nations Championships with Harambee Stars.

He has since become an integral member of the squad and features regularly in league matches while he also played in the CAF Confederation Cup before they were eliminated at the second preliminary round by Nairobi United.

During the club’s visit to Nairobi for the return leg against Naibos last October, Gor Mahia attempted to resolve the matter but they only received assurances that have not been met to date.

“When they came to Nairobi, I personally spoke to their management, and the club’s vice president committed to settling the payment. He promised that the money would be paid on Monday, October 20, 2025, after their Sunday match against Nairobi United,” Arum further said.

“He even signed the agreement that we currently have and left his contact details. Unfortunately, we have been calling him since then, but no one is picking our calls. That is why we now have no option but to pursue the matter formally.”
