The Nigerian opened the scoring in the 26th minute, and his partner in crime, Baris Alper Yilmaz,   doubled it three minutes later. With the result all but confirmed, and with it, the Super Lig title, Galatasaray won a penalty after Morata was fouled late in the game.

Instead of stepping up to the plate as the designated taker and extending his(25) Golden Boot lead over Istanbul Basaksehir’s Krystof Piatek(21), Osimhen invited goalkeeper Muslera to attempt. The Uruguayan shot-stopper stepped up and squeezed the ball past his opposite number to cement the result.

While this is not his first-ever goal, as he scored in his first season for Galatasaray in similar circumstances, this one was special, as he could be playing his final games as a Lion.

The 36-year-old joined the club in 2011 and has gone on to amass over 400 appearances. He won 19 trophies: eight league titles, five Turkish Cups, and six Turkish Super Cup titles.

Muslera is playing the final year of his contract, and despite calls from sections of the fans to hand him an extension, as his heroics this season is evidence of his capabilities despite his advanced age, the gesture from Osimhen could be an understanding that come June’s ending, the former Lazio man’s 14-year association with the club will have ended.
