John Utaka, the revered Super Eagles icon, has been appointed head coach of the women's team at ASPTT Montpellier Football Féminin, marking a significant step in his burgeoning coaching career.

At 43, Utaka, who begins this new chapter according to a post by reliable journalist OJB Sports, brings a rich football legacy and fresh ambitions to the French club as they prepare for the 2025-26 season.

Utaka, who retired from professional football in 2020, is no stranger to Montpellier, having been an instrumental player during the club’s historic Ligue 1 triumph in 2012.

Known for his attacking ability, he has since transitioned smoothly into coaching, earning his UEFA A Licence and gaining valuable experience within Montpellier’s youth setup.

He previously served briefly as interim head coach of the women’s team, and now he takes full charge with a clear mandate to improve the squad’s standing in the French women’s top flight.
