Former Super Eagles coach Finidi George is making waves in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) as his Rivers United side secured a crucial 1-0 victory against Lobi Stars in Lafia, marking their first away win of the season.

The hero of the hour was once again Kabir Abdullahi, whose late goal proved decisive in securing all three points for the Pride of Rivers on Saturday evening. 

This win extends Finidi's impressive start at the helm of Rivers United, with the team now boasting two wins and a draw from his first three matches in charge.

Finidi's tenure at Rivers United began with a convincing 3-1 home victory over Heartland, where Abdullahi announced himself with a brace. 

The team then showed resilience in their second fixture, holding Bendel Insurance to a goalless draw despite playing most of the match with 10 men.

Now, with this latest triumph in Lafia, Rivers United have collected seven points from a possible nine under Finidi's stewardship. 

This strong start is particularly noteworthy given the circumstances of Finidi's arrival at the club, following his resignation from the Super Eagles coaching position.

The former international winger seems determined to prove his mettle in club management after what many considered a disappointing stint with the national team.
