Flies with the last breath of our gone heroes - Oshoala eulogizes late Peter Rufai
Six-time African Women’s Footballer of the Year Asisat Oshoala has explained her heartfelt tribute to the legendary Super Eagles goalkeeper late Peter Rufai.
Oshoala scored the first goal for Nigeria at the of Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
She converted a cross from Rinsola Babajide early in the game as the Super Falcons recorded a 3-0 win against Tunisia.

Oshoala honored Rufai by inscribing his name on her wrist tape, and celebrated with it after the game.
The gesture came just days after Rufai’s passing at the age of 61 following a brief illness.
Oshoala has now taken to her official social media platforms to explain honoring Rufai.
Along with photos from the game was a message that said, "Our flag 🇳🇬 does not fly because the wind moves it.
"It flies with the last breath of our gone heros.
"Thank you Dodo Mayana….Rest on Legend !"
Oshoala who is playing in her sixth WAFCON now aims to extend her scoring run when the Super Falcons take on Botswana in their second group game scheduled for Thursday, July 9, 2025.
