France got off to a promising start with a goal by Randal Kolo Muani from Mbappe's assist, but Spain responded quickly with two goals in quick succession.
Mbappe's Performance at the Euros
While Mbappe is known for carrying his team, he only managed to score one goal throughout the entire tournament.
This fell short of expectations, and the 25-year-old forward did not shy away from taking the blame.
Owning Up to Shortcomings
The 25-year-old forward admitted according to Fabrizio Romano, "In football you're good or not good. I wasn't good. My Euro was a failure,"
He further emphasised his desire to win the championship: "I wanted to be European champion..."
Despite the disappointment, Mbappe seems determined to bounce back. "I will now go on holiday, I will rest well, it will do me a lot of good, then I will get ready to start a new life. There's a lot to do," he said.

This isn't the first time Mbappe has experienced a setback in the Euros. In 2020, France exited the tournament in the Round of 16 after a penalty shootout loss to Switzerland, with Mbappe missing the crucial penalty.
French fans will be hoping that Mbappe can learn from this experience and lead his team to glory in future tournaments.
