Nottingham Forest striker Taiwo Awoniyi has hit back at suggestions that he has put on weight during his recovery period from a groin injury.

The 26-year-old forward has been sidelined for several weeks following the injury he sustained while on international duty with Nigeria in November.

Awoniyi, who last featured for Nottingham Forest in their 3-2 defeat against West Ham United on November 12, where he netted his team's first goal, has been out of action since then.

Despite his absence, Nigeria has seen success with Ademola Lookman and Victor Osimhen leading the attack, propelling them to the quarterfinals of the AFCON.

However, Awoniyi is nearing a return to full fitness and could soon be in contention for selection. A recent training picture of Awoniyi sparked discussion on social media platform X, with one user questioning his apparent weight gain during his time away.

Responding to the comment, Awoniyi clarified, "Bros na cloth ooo," suggesting that his clothing may have created a misleading appearance.

Not content with just words, he further disproved the claim by sharing a video of himself unclad to reveal his fit physique while speaking Yoruba comically.

Return to Action Against Arsenal

Awoniyi could potentially feature in Nottingham Forest's upcoming Premier League clash against Arsenal at the City Ground, providing a welcome boost to the squad as they seek to secure a positive result.
