Drogba Inspires Me Most: Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen names his striker role models
Super Eagles and Galatasaray icon Victor Osimhen has revealed the football legends who have inspired him throughout his career, revealing lifelong idols that include Didier Drogba, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Robert Lewandowski, and Luis Suarez.
Among these, the Chelsea legend Didier Drogba holds a special place as Osimhen’s biggest inspiration and role model.
In a recent YouTube video, Osimhen spoke on his lifelong inspirations, stating his admiration for Chelsea and Premier League legend, Drogba, who was recently included by Mikel Obi in his ultimate five-a-side.
Highlighting the late Ivorian striker’s scoring instincts and gameplay as qualities he strives to emulate, Osimhen said;
“First of all, I love Didier Drogba a lot. He’s one of the few people who actually inspire me. He’s someone whose game and scoring instincts I try to copy.”
He also mentioned being inspired by other world-class strikers like Zlatan Ibrahimović, Robert Lewandowski, and Luis Suárez, praising their work ethic and remarkable skills.
Osimhen revealed that he often studies their gameplay during quiet moments, reviewing footage on YouTube to learn techniques and approaches that he can apply to his own career.
“I still watch them during my quiet moments or when I’m reflecting on my game and on life,” he explained. “I try to see how they do one or two things. This has really helped me so far.”
Osimhen, who recently made Galatasaray his new home after a record-breaking transfer, also went on to emphasise the importance of persistence, sharing a key message he lives by:
“Never give up. Never give up is the key word. Never give up regardless of your situation.”
His reflections show the lasting impact that these iconic footballers have had on his professional journey and mindset as he looks to build on a career that has seen him emerge as an icon in Italy, Turkey and the Super Eaglesa.
