Club World Cup impact! Brazilian club set to bid ₦112 billion for 26-goal Premier League star
Flush with their proceeds from the recently concluded Club World Cup, Palmeiras have their sights set on an ambitious move this summer, eyeing Tottenham's Richarlison.
According to Brazilian journalist Matheus Filipe, Palmeiras have informed Richarlison that they are interested in signing him, with club president Leila Pereira said to be pushing for the move.
Palmeiras preparing big bid
The 28-year-old joined Spurs in the summer of 2022 for €58 million but has struggled to justify the price tag. He battled with injuries last season but was fit in time to play a key role in Spurs' Europa League triumph over Manchester United.
He has two years left on his contract, which is set to expire in the summer of 2027. Still, Tottenham are reportedly demanding a figure in the range of £55 million to part with him.
Palmeiras reached the quarter-final of the Club World Cup, which helped them earn $39.8 million, according to Swiss Ramble. Including the windfall from sales like Estevao to Chelsea, the Brazilian side believe they can match Tottenham's ask.
On the player's side, Palmeiras have presented Richarlison with a clear plan. They also promised him prominence in the team, which would ensure he keeps his place in the Brazil squad ahead of the next World Cup.
