Club World Cup: Chelsea star demands more from flops after Flamengo collapse
Moises Caicedo expressed his disappointment following Chelsea's 3-1 defeat to Flamengo in the FIFA Club World Cup, emphasising the need for a strong reaction in their final group stage match.
Despite the Blues taking an early lead through Pedro Neto, they struggled to maintain control in the second half.
Flamengo capitalised on this, scoring two quick goals between the 62nd and 65th minutes.
Their advantage was further extended when Nicolas Jackson received a red card, reducing Chelsea to 10 men before the Brazilian club netted a third goal.
What Caicedo said
Reflecting on the match, a frustrated Caicedo highlighted the importance of maintaining focus for the entire game, noting that even a momentary lapse can prove costly.
He acknowledged that Flamengo were the superior side after the interval, making it difficult for Chelsea to defend their lead.
“You need to be focused for the full game because one second you switch off, then that’s what can happen,” Caicedo explained after the 3-1 defeat.
“We need to react. We are now focused on the next game. It will be a tough game, but we will prepare from tomorrow.”
What’s next for Chelsea?
Chelsea play Esperance on Tuesday, needing maximum points to avoid exiting the Club World Cup.
