Madrid rocked by injury blows and Ancelotti news

The news compounds the club's woes as they teeter on the brink of losing out on the LaLiga title, coinciding with head coach Carlo Ancelotti's impending departure to manage Brazil.

Both Vinícius and Vazquez were forced off the pitch during Los Blancos’ dramatic 4-3 El Clasico defeat at the hands of Barcelona on Sunday.

The result leaves their fierce rivals with a commanding seven-point lead at the top of the league table, with only three matches remaining in the season.

The club revealed that the Brazilian suffered an ankle sprain, while the experienced player sustained a thigh injury in the Barcelona loss.

The injury news came on the same day the Brazilian Federation announced Ancelotti as their new boss, with May 26 earmarked as the 65-year-old’s resumption.

Although the Italian was expected to depart at the end of the season, Real Madrid have not made an official announcement.

Xabi Alonso is widely expected to replace the Brazil-bound Italian manager.

What’s next for Real Madrid?

While Los Blancos have a mathematical chance of retaining LaLiga, they must win their remaining three games against Mallorca, Sevilla and Real Sociedad and hope for a Barcelona collapse.
