Enzo Maresca's Chelsea are pushing hard to complete a deal for Eintracht Frankfurt's Hugo Ekitike, but the striker's £84m price tag is seen as too high.
The 22-year-old has stood out with 15 Bundesliga goals, plus seven more in the German Cup and Europa League last season, drawing attention from Chelsea and Liverpool.
Even after signing Liam Delap, the Blues are still searching for another forward, with Ekitike their primary target.
According to Sky Germany, discussions are ongoing, but Frankfurt's high asking price has slowed things down.

Chelsea have also considered a swap deal involving their goalkeeper Robert Sanchez and other fringe players as they remain active in the transfer market, with interest in players like Victor Osimhen and Jamie Bynoe-Gittens.
Meanwhile, Blues' new boy Liam Delap has explained his reason for rejecting Manchester United to join Chelsea.
Delap said,
“I wanted to come here to win trophies. When I spoke to the club, everyone wanted to get back to the very top, and they have the quality and the players to do that.
“The hunger and desire to keep adding trophies, to take the club back to where it belongs, that is the main objective.”
