Chelsea become first team to be engraved on the FIFA Club World Cup trophy
Chelsea made history at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup by becoming the first team to have their name engraved on the newly redesigned Club World Cup trophy.
The Blues secured a commanding 3-0 victory over European champions Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in the final at MetLife Stadium, New Jersey, cementing their place in football history.
Historic Win Seals Chelsea’s Name in the Record Books
Chelsea’s dominant performance was led by Cole Palmer, who scored two brilliant goals and provided a crucial assist to Brazilian forward Joao Pedro.
The English club took a commanding lead within the first half-hour, with Palmer opening the scoring in the 22nd minute before doubling the advantage eight minutes later.
Just before halftime, Palmer’s precise pass set up Joao Pedro to chip PSG’s goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, sealing a huge lead that the Blues never relinquished.
The victory not only earned Chelsea their second FIFA Club World Cup title but also the honour of being the first team to have their name permanently engraved on the trophy, marking a new era for the competition’s expanded format.
The final was attended by notable figures, including former US President Donald Trump, who presented the winners’ medals and the trophy to Chelsea’s players, highlighting the global significance of the event.
Chelsea’s win comes after a season where they also won the UEFA Conference League, showcasing their growing stature on the international stage.

Manager Enzo Maresca’s tactical masterclass and the team’s clinical execution under pressure were key to overcoming a strong PSG side that had defeated top European clubs en route to the final.
With this historic win, Chelsea not only claim the title of world champions but also set a benchmark for future Club World Cup tournaments, writing their name forever on football’s newest global prize.
