"Can't cook for yourself? No loan for you" - Ex- Man United player reveals Sir Alex Ferguson's special training
Now 83, Ferguson is considered one of the greatest managers in Premier League history. During his tenure at Manchester United, he won an incredible 13 English league titles.
For the Old Trafford club, Ferguson was more than just a manager; he had the final say in most football-related decisions. Players like Jaap Stam, Ruud van Nistelrooy, and David Beckham experienced this firsthand at the turn of the 21st century.
Besides helping world-class players like Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney develop, he was always committed to nurturing young talent off the pitch. This led him to make decisions that taught them how to take care of themselves away from the football field.
What Foster said
In a recent podcast, via Sports, former Red Devils goalkeeper Ben Foster revealed one specific requirement Ferguson had for players before sending them out on loan.
Many players went abroad to gain experience, and before letting them go, Ferguson would ensure they could prepare a meal for themselves.
"He would make you go into the kitchen with the chef, who would then show you how to prepare food.
"He had to be sure that when you were living alone in an apartment, you could cook for yourself and wouldn't just eat at McDonald's."
Meanwhile, Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has opened up on the future of members of the famous 'bomb squad' pushing for an Old Trafford exit.
