Boniface, whose season was derailed by injuries and a failed move to Saudi Arabia, was not spared by his Bundesliga colleagues in a brutal end-of-season vote.

Boniface’s Bundesliga woes

The Nigerian striker came into the 2024/25 season riding high off a sensational first campaign with Bayer Leverkusen, where he racked up 21 goals and 9 assists.

But this season, the magic seemed to fade. Injuries limited him to just 12 starts in the Bundesliga, and his form dipped significantly.

He managed only 11 goals and a single assist across all competitions, a sharp contrast from the fireworks he delivered the year before. Making matters worse, Patrick Schick’s rise in form at Bayer Leverkusen pushed Boniface even further down the pecking order.
