Nigeria Basketball Federation, NBBF, has called on basketball players interested in playing for the country to come for an open trial.

The NBBF made the call to players aged 16 and under through a communique made public on Thursday by its Secretary General.

The statement was directed to the state directors of sports, state sports associations, parents, guardians and academies.

According to the statement, boys and girls interested in playing for the country at U-16 level are welcome to the camps.

“All interested U16 Basketball players (male/female) are invited to the National Open trials,” the statement read in part.

It added that the screening of the players is scheduled to take place in two places - the nation’s capital city Abuja and Lagos respectively.

The open trial is expected to be in two phases with the first slated for Abuja.

It is scheduled to dunk off on the 25th of May to the 27th at the OutDoor basketball court inside the MKO Abiola National Stadium, Package B.

The second phase will be held in Lagos from June 1 to 3rd at the National Institute of Sports, NIS, Outdoor Basketball court inside the National Stadium in Surulere, Lagos.

Both phases will dunk off from 8 am each day.

Conditions for participation

All players must be born between 1st January 2007 and 31st December 2008

All players must present the following,

Valid International Passport,

NIN (National Identification Certificate)

Birth Certificate issued by a recognized organization/institution.

Also;

1. Only players with International Passport or NIN will be admitted.

2. Participation will be at the expense of each participant or Sponsored by Clubs, Teams and Private/Public Academies.
