His performance in the competition has earned him plaudits and, consequently, interest from top European clubs, including the LALIGA champions Barcelona.

According to Fichajes, the Blaugrana are not the only heavyweights that paid attention to Maamma during the tournament. Hence, they are looking to move quickly to acquire his services before his valuation shoots up due to demand.

Who is Othmane Maamma?

Othmane Maamma is a Moroccan right-winger who moved from Montpellier to Watford in the summer and is contracted there until 30 June 2029.

He is a direct, dribble-first attacker (comfortable on either flank). He has incredibly quick feet, sharp decision-making in the final third and an eye for a creative pass, traits that saw him break into Montpellier’s first team in 2024 before Watford signed him in summer 2025.

His club form earned him a starting role for Morocco’s U-20s at Chile 2025. At the 2025 U-20 World Cup, Maamma was the standout performer as Morocco lifted the trophy; he finished the tournament with one goal and four assists, was the top assist provider and won the Golden Ball as the competition’s best player.
