Ashleigh Plumptre: Super Falcons star celebrates as Al-Ittihad defeats Esperance

Super Falcons of Nigeria star Ashleigh Plumptre returned to action in Saudi Arabia.

On Saturday, December 14, 2024, Plumptre was in action for Al-Ittihad women as they recorded a 3-0 win against Esperance women.

In a battle of giants, Leticia Nunes was the hero for Al-Ittihad women.

Nunes opened the scoring in the 32nd minute and then added a second in the 34th minute as Al-Ittihad went to the halftime break with a two-goal cushion.

There was only one goal scored in the second half as Nunes completed her hattrick in additional time after 90 minutes as Al-Ittihad recorded a comfortable victory.

Plumptre did not captain the side but was the leader in defense as Al-Ittihad recorded an impressive clean sheet.

This comes after Plumptre was at the heart of the defense as the Super Falcons of Nigeria suffered a 2-1 loss to the Les Bleues of France during the international break.

Since her return from surgery, Plumptre has been getting back to her best form an expected to play a crucial role for the Super Falcons at the 2025 Africa Women's Cup of Nations (WAFCON)
