Atletico Madrid have reportedly had a bid turned down from Fulham for Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi.
The 27-year-old was one of the standout midfielders in the Premier League last season, placing himself on the Spanish team's radar.
Atletico Madrid’s interest
It's been a summer of shake-ups at Atletico Madrid. The Rojiblancos have signed a host of players and have some on the way out of the club.
Rodrigo de Paul has been linked with a €15 million move, and Conor Gallagher is expected to make a return to the Premier League. Hence, the Rojiblancos are in the market for a replacement.
Dario AS reported that Atletico Madrid identified Iwobi as an ideal wide midfield option and was preparing to make a bid for him. They are now said to have sent an offer which was rebuffed.
Fulham reject Atletico’s offer
According to Transfer Live, Fulham have rejected an offer of around £21 million from Atletico Madrid for the Nigerian star.
The Spanish Giants have already signed two midfielders this summer, Alex Baena and Johnny Cardoso, and are negotiating with Tottenham Hotspur for Christian Romero. It remains to be seen whether they will stretch their finances further for Iwobi.
