Aldrine Kibet: Celta Vigo Coach Tips Kenyan Sensation for Greatness after Two Goals in Four Minutes
RC Celta B head coach Fredi Alvarez has given reasons why he feels Harambee Stars teenager Aldrine Kibet will flourish at the club.
Kibet has been impressive since joining the Spanish club in July 2025 from the Nastic Academy in Tarragona with his performances in the last one month the best during his stint at the Celta junior team.
The former St Anthony’s Boys star scored two goals in four minutes on Sunday as Celta U19 thrashed SD Compostela 3-0, coming days after he had also scored in his team’s 4-3 victory over Atletico Madrid.
Kibet has not just been scoring but also creating goals for his teammates and he has a number of assists to his name, leaving Alvarez without a doubt that he is destined for greatness.
“I think he really stands out. In the first days when he arrived, he attracted a lot of attention in terms of his level and his ability,” said Alvarez.
Why Kibet Will Adapt Quickly
“I think Kibet’s adaptation will be a bit simpler and easier than that of the others because he’s a guy who has already been in Spain, who already knows the language and more or less understands us. So I think it will be a little easier for him. But we all expect a lot from him.”
Alvarez, however, revealed some setbacks that the Kenyan youngster has suffered recently, confirming an injury that has been hampering the attacking midfielder.
“He’s dealing with a knee problem, which is bothering him in training, and he’s not training completely smoothly yet,” he added. “We have to have patience and stay calm, because I think he’s a player who can give Celta many glorious afternoons.”
Alvarez’s faith in Kibet will lift the spirits of the Kenyan youngster who is hoping to make it to the senior team in the coming years.
