Al Nassr to reunite Ronaldo with former Juventus teammate
Wojciech Szczesny is expected to complete his transfer to Al Nassr next week, joining former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo and marking the end of his seven-year tenure with Juventus.
The 34-year-old Polish goalkeeper, who initially seemed reluctant to leave the Bianconeri, has come around to the idea of joining the Saudi Arabian club after a lucrative offer for his services was made and Juventus’ decision to sign Michele Di Gregorio from Monza on a €4 million loan deal with a €16 million obligation to buy clause.
Szczesny to get lucrative Saudi deal
Szczesny has reportedly agreed to a two-year contract with Al Nassr, worth around €19 million net per season, immediately making him one of the highest-paid goalkeepers in world football at the moment.
The contract will see him join forces with his former Juventus teammate, Ronaldo, who currently plays for Al Nassr, and is the highest-paid player in the world thanks to his own lucrative deal.
The pair starred together for Juventus between 2018 and 2021 and won two Serie A titles together as well as the Coppa Italia in 2021
Juventus and Al Nassr seal Szczesny deal
According to reports from Tuttosport, Al Nassr and Juventus have reached an agreement to transfer Szczesny for approximately €4 million. Selling the Polish goalkeeper will help Juventus reduce their wage bill and create room for new players as they continue their squad overhaul.
Earlier in the month, negotiations between the two clubs had stalled, but a breakthrough has now been achieved, meaning Szczesny is set to complete his move to Al Nassr next week, bringing his successful stint in Turin to a close and embarking on a new chapter in his career in Saudi Arabia.
