Al Nassr preparing to exploit contract situation of another Barcelona star
Saudi Pro League giants Al Nassr are reportedly eyeing a swoop for Barcelona defender Andreas Christensen, whose contract is set to expire at the end of the current campaign.
Christensen's situation at Barcelona
The Denmark international joined Barcelona from Chelsea in the summer of 2022, signing a four-year deal until June 2026.
He was a key part of Barcelona’s 2022/23 LALIGA title run under Xavi, making 23 league appearances (22 starts) as a regular at centre-back before injuries halted his participation.
Since that breakthrough season, Christensen’s availability has been inconsistent because of recurring muscle and Achilles problems.
Al Nassr's desire and Barcelona's stance
With his contract in its final months, Barcelona are not prioritising his renewal and are prepared to accept bids in the January transfer window.
Saudi giants Al-Nassr are publicly linked with the 29-year-old; however, they are unwilling to pay a transfer fee and are prepared to wait until summer to snap him up for free, according to Diario Sport.
They recently exploited the contract situation of another Barcelona player, Inigo Martinez, signing the Spaniard for free due to the clause in his contract which allowed him to join an overseas club without a transfer fee.
