AFCON 2023: Super Eagles celebrate 2019 win against Cameroon
The Super Eagles of Nigeria take on the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon in a round of 16 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) fixture.
Ahead of the round of 16 fixture, the Super Eagles of Nigeria are celebrating their past victory against Cameroon.
Nigeria 3-2 Cameroon in 2019
Since the 2000 AFCON final, Nigeria has not lost to Cameroon in a competitive match.
The Super Eagles have worked extremely hard under Jose Peseiro to achieve outstanding accomplishments before the start of this competition.
They did, however, put on impressive performances against Guinea-Bissau and the Ivory Coast recently.
When comparing head-to-head, Nigeria has performed admirably against their opponents in recent encounters.
When they last faced off, the Super Eagles prevailed 3-2 at the 2019 AFCON in Egypt.
Nigeria vs Cameroon Head-to-Head
To secure a podium finish in Ivory Coast, Nigeria must defeat five-time AFCON champion Cameroon, which stands in the way of their quest for a fourth AFCON championship.
Other results in their seven meetings at the Africa Cup of Nations mean that Nigeria and Cameroon have split three victories and one tie.
In the 1984, 1988, and 2000 AFCON tournaments, Cameroon emerged victorious in the final matches against Nigeria.
In addition to defeating the Cup champions Cameroon 2-1 in the 2004 quarterfinals.
The only draw came In 1988 when the two teams tied in the group stage.

The official social media platforms of the Super Eagles celebrated their win against Indomitable Luones back in 2019.
Along with a video of the game was a message that said, "The last time we met the Lions at this stage in the Afcon it ended 3-2 in Alexandria

Time and where to watch Nigeria vs Cameroon
On Saturday, January 27, Nigeria and Cameroon will play at the same stadium in Abidjan, the Stade Félix Houphouet-Boigny, where they defeated Guinea-Bissau.
Across Africa and beyond, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) will broadcast the 2023 AFCON, which takes place in 2024.
The local broadcaster in Nigeria is AfroSport, but it is also accessible on Supersports on DSTV and Starstimes Sports Premium.
It will kick off at 9 PM Nigerian time.
