AFCON 2023: Federal Government set to reward Super Eagles players with goodies for reaching final

In a thrilling encounter that kept fans on the edge of their seats, the Super Eagles soared to a magnificent victory over South Africa, securing their spot in the final of the prestigious tournament. 

The high-stakes match, which concluded with a nail-biting penalty shootout, witnessed Nigeria's own Kelechi Iheanacho stepping up as the hero of the hour. 

The victory was made even sweeter by the presence of Vice President Kashim Shettima, alongside a high-profile delegation, who made their way to the Eagles’ locker room to celebrate the triumphant team.

The Vice President, in a heartfelt address captured on the Super Eagles X handle, conveyed the immense pride and joy felt by the government and people of Nigeria. 

"The govt and people of Nigeria are proud of their accomplishment," he stated, echoing the sentiments of millions of Nigerians. 

The presence of esteemed figures such as Governors Dapo Abiodun and Duoye Diri, Minister for Youth Dr. Jamila Ibrahim, oil magnate Wale Tinubu, FIFA Council Member Amaju Pinnick, and NFF President Ibrahim Musa Gusau, further highlighted the national importance of the victory and the unifying power of football.

The semi-final clash against South Africa was nothing short of dramatic, with the match extending into extra time and concluding in a 1-1 draw before heading into penalties. 

It was here that substitute Kelechi Iheanacho showcased his composure and skill, netting the decisive penalty that sealed Nigeria's fate as finalists.
