Ademola Lookman: Van Dijk, Super Eagles and Super Falcons stars congratulate CAF POTY winner

Ademola Lookman has officially cemented his place among Africa’s football elite after winning the 2024 CAF Player of the Year award at the grand ceremony in Marrakech, Morocco. 

Following his historic triumph, the football community, including some of the biggest names in the game, took to social media to congratulate the Atalanta and Super Eagles forward on his well-deserved accolade.

Lookman’s Super Eagles teammates were among the first to shower him with praise. 

Kelechi Iheanacho shared his excitement with a heartfelt comment: “Only one Adebobo.” 

Super Eagles captain and AFCON 2023 MVP William Troost-Ekong added: “Deserved brother! We are all proud of you!”

Victor Boniface chimed in with: “Congrats broksi.” 

Meanwhile, Super Eagles winger Moses Simon kept it short and sweet: “Congratulations brother.”

Super Falcons star Rinsola Babajide also joined the celebration with an enthusiastic: “Asss it should beeee. What a BALRRR.”

Beyond Nigeria, international stars from Europe’s top leagues also celebrated Lookman’s achievement. 

Liverpool defender Virgil Van Dijk reacted with a simple yet powerful applause emoji, while Lookman’s Atalanta teammate Juan Cuadrado wrote: “God bless you panita.”

Tottenham’s Dominic Solanke echoed Cuadrado with: “Deserved to the fullest” 

James Maddison of Spurs joined the celebration with an applause emoji, and Chelsea defender Tosin Adarabioyo declared: “My brother! THE BEST player in Africa. Well deserved.”

Atalanta teammate Charles De Ketelaere added his voice with: “The Best.” 

Ben Godfrey, another of Lookman’s Atalanta teammate, commented: “Never in doubt.”

Meanwhile, Bayer Leverkusen star Nathan Tella celebrated his compatriot’s success with: “Congrats broo.”

Ademola Lookman’s remarkable year continues to win hearts on and off the pitch, with this recognition further solidifying his status as one of Africa’s brightest footballing talents.
