Abrham Sime Beats Kenyan Duo To Win 3000m Steeplechase At Shanghai Diamond League

Abrham Sime was a class act as he silenced Kenyan pair at the Shanghai Diamond League meeting.

Kenyan duo Edmund Serem and Simon Kipruto finished second and third respectively at the Shanghai Diamond League meeting on Saturday.

The race was dominated by Ethiopia's Sime Abrham, who crossed the finish line in 8:07.92 to win the cut-throat competitive race.

Serem clocked 8:08.68 while Kipruto attained 8:09.05. Tunisia's Mohamed Amin (8:10.55) , Daru Nicolas-Marie ( 8:10.69) and Samuel Firewu, (8:11.18) came fourth, fifth and sixth respectively.

In 2024, Sime set a new PB of 8:02.36 at the Meeting de Paris, holding off the fast-finishing Amos Serem to win.

Serem, 17, won the gold medal at the 2024 World U20 Championships in Lima, Peru in the 3000m steeplechase in a time of 8:15.28.

Serem bagged the silver medal at the 2024 African Championships in Douala, Cameroon. At the 2023 African U18 Championships in Ndola, Zambia in April 2023, Serem  clinched gold in the 2000m steeplechase.
