Philadelphia 76ers forward Paul George underwent surgery on his left knee on Monday, the club announced.

The nine-time All-Star sustained the injury during a recent workout. The procedure performed was an arthroscopy and did not involve any of the ligaments in his knee.

The team are yet to disclose the specific issue that necessitated the surgery.

George's latest health setback is a significant concern for both team management and fans. He joined the team last summer on a four-year, $212 million maximum contract, but missed 41 games due to various injuries.

This limited him to just 16.2 points per game – his lowest average since his rookie season with the Indiana Pacers in 2010-11. George has a career average of 20.6 points per game.
