Victor Boniface has ended speculation about a summer exit by confirming he’s staying at Bayer Leverkusen.
In an exclusive interview with Bild, the Nigerian striker firmly stated that his future lies with the Bundesliga club.
Boniface clears the air on his Leverkusen future
After months of speculation linking him with AC Milan, Galatasaray, and even Saudi side Al-Nassr, Victor Boniface has finally laid the rumours to rest.
Speaking to Bild’s Phillip Arens, the 24-year-old forward was unequivocal in his commitment to Bayer Leverkusen.
“Absolutely! My future is here. From my side, it’s 100% clear that I’m staying. I want to win titles with Bayer, have a great season,” Boniface said.
His ambition aligns with Leverkusen’s new direction under Erik ten Hag, who takes over following Xabi Alonso’s title-winning stint.
Boniface’s decision comes as a major boost, especially after the departures of Florian Wirtz, Jonathan Tah, and Jeremie Frimpong.
Failed Al-Nassr move, AC Milan links, and personal motivation
Boniface was reportedly close to joining Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr in January, with agreements in place between all parties before the Saudi club switched targets to Aston Villa’s Jhon Durán.
Reflecting on that, Boniface said, “It is what it is. The transfer didn’t happen, I’m still here. Even when things weren’t going so well for me last season, I spoke to \[sporting director] Simon Rolfes and told him: I love it here.”
Despite a tough season due to injuries, scoring 8 goals in 19 Bundesliga matches, Boniface made it clear he feels at home.
Now focused on regaining top form, Boniface is aiming to lead Leverkusen’s next chapter under ten Hag.
