The men’s team finished fifth overall after a straight-sets win over Mali and despite that, Nyongesa is proud of the improvement the team has made.

Beach Handball player Victor Nyongesa has outlined the positives the team took despite missing out on a podium finish at the ongoing Africa Beach Games in Hammamet, Tunisia.

The men’s team finished fifth overall after a straight-sets win over Mali and despite that, Nyongesa is proud of the improvement the team has made.

He noted that the second edition of the championship has been much better as compared to the previous edition which was held in Cape Verde in 2019.

“The event has been good. As compared to the previous edition in 2019, this one has been amazing. As a team we have made tremendous strides,” he said.

During the first edition of the continental showpiece, Team Kenya finished ninth and Nyongesa is impressed by the team’s improvement. He added that another plus for the team is that their win over Mali places them in a good position ahead of other upcoming events.

“Last time we finished ninth and there’s a massive improvement from our performance. We played four matches and won our match against Mali and this puts us in a good position in our upcoming events,” he said.

He also extended a hand of gratitude to the National Olympic Committee of Kenya, the federation, and the government for supporting them. “I want to thank all the stakeholders who have supported us to this far,” he said.
