Harambee Stars coach Benni McCarthy is yet to give his account of what led to the 8-0 loss to Senegal even as the team jetted back to Kenya on Wednesday night.
Harambee Stars coach Benni McCarthy was missing as the team returned to Kenya from Turkey following their two friendly matches against Equatorial Guinea and Senegal.
Kenya had an unsuccessful November international window, when they lost 1-0 to Equatorial Guinea last Friday, before one of their worst days in their history when they were thrashed 8-0 by Senegal on Tuesday.
Harambee Stars were 4-0 down after 17 minutes and were 6-0 behind at the break before two more second half goals condemned them to their second worst defeat in history.

Benni McCarthy: Has Harambee Stars Coach Been Success or Failure?
Harambee Stars coach Benni McCarthy saw his side lose 8-0 to Senegal on Tuesday in what was one of their worst results in history and it brings his tenure into focus.
While Football Kenya Federation boss Hussein Mohammed apologised to the nation and promised an inquest, head coach Benni McCarthy is yet to give his own account of things as Kenyans continue to digest the sobering result inflicted on the team by the 2021 African champions.
Kenya Handed Reality Check in Turkey
McCarthy, who had linked up with the team in Turkey owing to passport issues, was not part of the delegation that returned to Kenya on Wednesday night with his assistant Vasili Manousakis and goalkeeper trainer Moeneeb Josephs among those who jetted back.
Harambee Stars were looking to tune up for future assignments after missing out on the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and 2026 World Cup with McCarthy testing a number of young players who he hopes to rely on for AFCON 2027.

Kenya 0-8 Senegal: 5 Costly Mistakes Made by Benni McCarthy in Historic Loss
Harambee Stars are still reeling from their embarrassing 8-0 loss to Senegal but head coach Benni McCarthy cannot escape blame for some of his tactical missteps.
They, however, struggled against Senegal after an impressive display against Equatorial Guinea, when they created chances but failed to score before conceding a penalty, and would have picked plenty of lessons from the two encounters.
The two losses saw Kenya drop four places on the FIFA ranking to position 113 and will be looking to right those wrongs in the next international window in March 2026.
