The South Africa national team job is attracting interest from a number of candidates and one prominent name has made it clear he would be ready for the role.
Veteran South African coach Pitso Mosimane has thrown his hat in the ring for the Bafana Bafana job that will fall vacant next year.
Belgian coach Hugo Broos will step down from his role as Bafana Bafana boss after the 2026 World Cup and he has already named his assistant Helman Mkhalele as the man he feels should replace him.
However, the name of Mosimane has come up prominently when Broos’ potential successors are named given his successful spells at Mamelodi Sundowns, Al Ahly as well as Saudi club Al Ahli Jeddah.

Pitso Mosimane Breaks Silence on Kaizer Chiefs Job
Veteran coach Pitso Mosimane has sent a message to Kaizer Chiefs amid the speculation linking him with a move to the South African giants.
The 61-year-old, who has three CAF Champions League titles to his name, and won five league titles in eight years at Sundowns, admits the Bafana Bafana job is an attractive project currently given what is being witnessed in the country’s football.
“There’s no other better time to coach Bafana than now,” said Mosimane on Marawa Sports Worldwide as per Afrik-Foot.

South Africa coach Hugo Broos has been forced to issue an apology following his public rebuke of defender Mbekezeli Mbokazi which saw him accused of racism and sexism.
The former SuperSport United coach, would, however, not just walk into the Bafana job without certain assurances.
“Yes, I’m available for a good project but you can’t just say, ‘Okay we drew yesterday, now let’s get him and then we draw again, and then we can’t fix it’. Those things, I’m not in line with them,” he added.
Mosimane is not new to the South Africa national team coaching setup as he was assistant to Brazilian Carlos Alberto Pereira during the 2010 World Cup, which the country hosted, before he took over from that year up to 2012.
