The former Gor Mahia coach remains coy on Kakamega Homeboyz’s title chances despite getting into title challenging places.

Kakamega Homeboyz head coach Patrick ‘Luwowo’ Odhiambo has downplayed his side’s title chances after moving to within four points of the top spot following a string of consecutive wins.

Homeboyz won their maiden trophy by placing their hands on the FKF Cup last season under the tutelage of Odhiambo, who came into the set-up mid-last season, and now look on course to make amends for their near miss in the voided 2021-2022 season when they missed out on the title by a few points.

However, Odhiambo, who has created a reputation for not being carried away and being evasive whenever questioned about intricate matters, chose to remain coy about the side’s title chances.

Odhiambo lamented: “It is too early, too early! The first leg is not even done. It is too early. We just want to win all our games. We just want to try and get a win. That is the main aim.

We may have won three on the trot, scoring eight goals and keeping three clean sheets, but it is early days to talk about the title. We are not even halfway through the season."

Meanwhile, Odhiambo has revealed he is pleased with the progress his players are making week in, and week out in order to actualise his football vision for the side.

“Even you have seen it. There is progress. I am happy with what I am saying. Every day, people are getting better and the team in general is even getting better.

The former Gor Mahia coach is currently focusing on this weekend's encounter against Bidco. They will then play Shabana, AFC Leopards, and Nairobi City Stars before the first leg concludes.
