Confederation of Africa Football is in dilemma on when the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco will be held given a number of competing competitions on the proposed dates.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) still does not know when the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) will be held due to other competitions set to be held in the summer next year.
The expanded 32-team FIFA Club World Cup is scheduled to take place from June 15 to July 13, 2025, in the United States, giving CAF a headache on when the AFCON 2025 will be held given host nation Morocco want to stage it in the summer.

“I was with the president of FIFA yesterday and various others and there is a lot of competing events at the same time but we are confident that we can identify if it [AFCON 2025] indeed going be around that time.

CAF has been flipping between the summer and the January dates for the AFCON in the last three editions with the 2019 event held between June and July in Egypt before the 2023 tournament was switched from the same dates to January and February to avoid the rainy season in Cote d’Ivoire.
Now, Morocco wants it in the summer of 2025 to help them gauge their level of preparedness before they co-host the 2030 FIFA World Cup, alongside Portugal and Spain, but settling on a suitable date that will not disrupt European teams, who will have had to do without their key players, is proving problematic.
