The polls body is up in arms over frustrating and agonising wait for their pending dues from the Hussein Mohammed-led Football Kenya Federation.
Football Kenya Federation (FKF) is being accused of ignoring pleas from members of the Electoral board regarding their pending dues.
The FKF Elections Board conducted a flawless exercise during the December 7, 2024 polls that ushered Hussein Mohammed and his deputy McDonald Mariga into office but they feel to have been forgotten after the elections.
A letter in our possession dated December 9, 2024, two days after he elections, addressed to acting FKF CEO Patrick Korir by the Electoral Board, had sought to have the federation remit the remainder of their dues, totaling Ksh1,080,000 and which include overtime allowance, transport allowance, allowance for repeat elections and salaries for the month of December 2024.
The board comprised former chairman Hesbon Owila, secretary Merceline Sande, James Waindi, Alfred Ng’ang’a and Dan Mule as well the secretariat that had Frankline Shabanji, Jesse Yase, Patricia Nikita, Victor Ogola, Christine Nzomo and Victor Ombati who had hoped to break for Christmas with all their dues paid.
However, according to them, it has been an agonising and frustrating wait with no word over when they will be paid coming from the federation.

FKF Electoral Board raise concerns over delayed pay after conducting flawless polls that ushered in new leadership
The members of the polls body are unimpressed by how long it has taken to settle their dues despite conducting a widely lauded free and fair exercise.
“There are days when we reported to work during weekends, public holidays and at times we stayed at Kandanda House till 1am. We sometimes would stay as late as 2am, especially when dispatching county voting materials,” a board member, who sought anonymity, told Pulse Sports.
Following the delay, the board sought clarification from FKF on January 20, after which a meeting was scheduled with Mohammed on January 28, but it was cancelled very late on the eve of the said date, adding to their frustration.
“The Board views these actions and inactions by the FKF as unprofessional and lacking in good faith. Such conduct undermines the collaborative efforts necessary to address and resolve these issues effectively,” reads a letter from the board addressed to Korir, regarding the last-minute cancellation.
“Furthermore, the Board has received a demand letter on behalf of the Electoral Board Secretariat regarding the settlement of the amounts due. This letter threatens legal action against both the Football Kenya Federation and the Electoral Board should the outstanding allowances remain unpaid.

Hussein Mohammed: 5 things newly-elected FKF president must address immediately
Hussein Mohammed is the man tasked with reviving Kenyan football and the new FKF president has little time to celebrate as he needs to sort out some key things immediately.
“The Secretariat’s position is that further delays are unacceptable, and the Board shares their concern regarding the reputational and operational risks such litigation could bring to all parties involved.”
This is happening at a time when the board has been left in disarray following the resignation of Owila and more could follow given the frustration.
That would leave it not fully constituted while the FKF Electoral Code stipulates that among the five-member board, the chair or the secretary must be practicing law.
With elections still pending in Nyamira and Homa Bay counties after the initial exercise was nullified, there are fears that the two counties might have to wait long to get new leaders unless a quick solution is found.

McDonald Mariga to chair seven-man FKF Ad Hoc comittee amid CEO search
Mariga will chare the seven-man comitee to guide the new Federation under new President Hussein Mohammed during this critical transitional period phase.
FKF formed a Transition Ad Hoc Committee last month to review the operations of the federation, including the finances, governance structures, human resources as well as legal framework and has reportedly presented its report to Mohammed with a meeting set to take place on Tuesday to review its recommendations.
Efforts by Pulse Sports to get a comment from FKF regarding the electoral board’s pay delay proved futile as phones went unanswered.
