Despite the setback, the gaffer believes the Glamour Boys will bounce back and clinch the championship in the upcoming decisive match.

Shabana FC head coach Sammy Okoth maintains an unwavering belief that his team will emerge as the 2022/2023 National Super League (NSL) champions, despite facing a setback in their recent match against Murang'a Seal.

The Glamour Boys suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat in a closely contested game held at St Sebastian Park in Murang'a on Sunday, July 2, 2023.

Needing only a draw to secure the championship with a single match remaining in the season, Shabana's hopes were temporarily dashed.

Although the defeat momentarily delayed their celebrations, Okoth is confident that his team has what it takes to clinch the trophy in the upcoming fixture against Kisumu All Stars at their home ground.

"We started the match on a slow note, but we understand it is because of fatigue due to fixture congestion," said Sammy Okoth, acknowledging the challenges faced by his team.

"What I can say is that Seal just postponed our celebrations. Our last match will be at our home ground against Kisumu All Stars. We know already that we are champions. We only need to beat them and win the trophy," he added with unwavering determination.

On the opposing side, Seal head coach Vincent Nyaberi acknowledged the tough challenge his team faced and praised his players for their efforts.

Looking ahead, he emphasized the importance of winning their upcoming away match and then assessing the situation thereafter.

"It was a difficult game, and I congratulate the boys for doing a good job. Up next, we will play an away match and we will have to win and then see what will happen next," Nyaberi stated.

The match against Murang'a Seal saw Fabian Adikiny shine with a sensational brace, putting the home team in the lead.

However, Shabana showed their fighting spirit and managed to pull one back with a late goal from George Onyango, but it was not enough to change the course of the game.

Despite the defeat, Shabana remains at the top of the table with 70 points, holding a slim two-point advantage over Murang'a Seal.

As the last fixtures approach, all eyes are on the thrilling encounter where Shabana will host Kisumu All Stars at Gusii Stadium, while Murang'a Seal will battle it out against Gusii FC at the same venue.
