Humphrey Mieno makes a dramatic third return to Batoto ba Mungu after leaving twelve-time champions Tusker FC.

Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) side Sofapaka FC have welcomed back midfielder Humphrey Mieno for his third spell with the club.

The 33-year-old veteran is making his comeback on a free transfer, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter in his illustrious career.

Mieno's return to Sofapaka comes after a memorable tenure with Tusker FC, where he served as captain and led the team to clinch the 2020-21 FKF Premier League title.

"We are pleased to announce the acquisition of the evergreen midfield maestro Humphrey Mieno from Tusker FC. Karibu Batoto Ba Mungu, Hum," Sofapaka declared, signaling their excitement at having the seasoned player back in their ranks.

Mieno's association with Sofapaka is nothing short of a footballing love story. He first donned the blue and white jersey in the 2011 season, making an immediate impact with his midfield prowess.

His exceptional performance earned him a return ticket, and he continued to grace the club with his skills from 2012 to 2014.

During his earlier stints with Sofapaka, Mieno established himself as a fan favorite, and his return has sent ripples of excitement through the club's loyal supporters.

Mieno has showcased his talents not only in Kenya but also in Tanzania, Tunisia, Ethiopia, and beyond.

The towering midfielder has left his mark on esteemed teams such as Mahakama, KCB, Azam FC in the Tanzania Premier League, Club Africain of Tunisia, Gor Mahia, St George of Ethiopia, and AFC Leopards.

While his career has been marked by numerous transfers, one move, in particular, sparked controversy and heated debates among football enthusiasts.

Mieno's departure from AFC Leopards in 2015 raised eyebrows, with many fans viewing it as a money-motivated decision.

His tenure with AFC Leopards was brief, lasting only seven months. However, it was during this time that he made his debut for the club on February 21, 2015, in a match against Thika United.

The game against Thika United ended in a 1-1 draw at Thika Stadium, with Mieno showcasing his versatility and skill on the pitch.

With his wealth of experience and proven track record, he is expected to bolster the club's midfield and contribute to their quest for success in the 2023/2024 season.
