FKFPL Struggling Shabana look to break winless streak against Bandari

Festus Chuma 09:02 - 03.03.2024

Shabana FC will be seeking their first win since January against Bandari FC amidst a leadership ultimatum and relegation battle in the FKF Premier League clash.

Shabana FC is set to host Bandari FC at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos aiming for a much-needed victory in the FKF Premier League on March 3, 2024.

The match, scheduled to kick off at 15h00, comes at a critical juncture for the Glamour Boys, who are seeking their first league win since January.

Following a challenging period that saw them suffer a third loss in their last five league outings—a 1-0 defeat to Kenya Police on February 17—the Kisii-based team finds itself in a precarious position.

With just nine points from 11 home matches this season, Shabana’s form at home has been less than stellar.

Currently, they sit 16th on the league table with 18 points from 22 matches, a position that has sparked concern among the club’s leadership and fanbase.

In response to the team's poor performance, a crisis meeting was convened by club patron Sam Nyamweya at Hill Park Hotel in Nairobi.

The meeting's outcome was a clear ultimatum for the club's management, led by chairman Jared Nivaton, mandating a turnaround in the team’s fortunes in the next three matches to avoid potential leadership changes.

On the other side, Bandari FC arrives in Machakos with a more positive outlook.

The Coastal Kenya-based side recorded their 11th win of the season with a 1-1 draw against Nzoia Sugar on February 17 in Bungoma.

With nine points from their last five away matches, Bandari are in a comparatively stronger position, sitting sixth on the table with 37 points from as many matches.

This clash promises to be a significant test for both teams, as they seek to secure their objectives for the season.

Historically, the head-to-head record between Shabana and Bandari is limited, with just one previous encounter in the top flight.

That match, earlier this season, saw Bandari secure a 2-1 victory in Mombasa. As such, Shabana will be keen to even the score and claim vital points in their battle against relegation.

As the match approaches, all eyes will be on Shabana to see if they can rise to the occasion and break their winless streak.

With the leadership’s ultimatum hanging over them, the Glamour Boys are under immense pressure to perform.

Meanwhile, Bandari will aim to continue their positive away form and strengthen their position in the upper half of the table.
