Back in 2021, Sofapaka also soiled KCB's title hopes prompting a famous Zico interview.

KCB FC missed the chance to go level on points with Kenya Police FC as they drew 0-0 with David Ouma's Sofapaka in a match played at the Kasarani Annex on Monday evening.

The game was fairly even in the first half, with neither team creating any real inroads in the others’ half, and the only thing that looked lively was the fan blowing a vuvuzela at the southeast of the Kasarani annex.

Sofapaka created the biggest chance of the first-half through Ben Stanely, whose volley troubled the bankers' defense but Maurice Owino cleared it out for safety

KCB would however, start brighter of the two sides after the break, creating the clearest goalscoring opportunity after a nice intricate one-two between Erikson Mulu and Musa Masika resulted in the latter whipping a dangerous ball into the box towards the onrushing Kennedy Ochino, but the Bankers’ top scorer could not get on the end of the cross.

This prompted Zedekiah “Zico” Otieno into making changes in the 49th minute, with Francis Kahiro coming on for Brian Chepmweno as he attempted to find a way to get someone to occupy space between the lines to beat Sofapaka’s mid-block.

Sofapaka won a free kick on the edge of the box in the 55th minute, their first real goalscoring opportunity, but simply could not take advantage of the situation.

Batoto ba Mungu nearly created another opportunity to score in the 59th minute through right winger Jacob Panoam, but he fluffed his lines and lobbed it nonchalantly above the bar assuming that he had been flagged for offside.

Masika, who looked the most likely to score, attempted a shot outside the box as the Bankers enjoyed most of the possession but could not find a way to create inroads into the final third of the compact Sofapaka defence.

After a period of sustained pressure the hosts, KCB created another great chance when Harrison Mwendwa made a dangerous run with the ball down the right flank before whipping a dangerous low cross into the box, but with a great chance on goal but Sofapaka keeper Kevin Omondi with some fine reflex with a near post save

They then won a freekick just a minute later on the edge of the 18-yard box in the 78th minute and Masika hit an excellent shot which was well saved by Sofapaka custodian Kevin Omondi.

KCB tried to create more chances, but they could not capitalize on them, and the game ended 0-0.
