Report: Manchester United bosses will not sack Ruben Amorim despite poor results

Ruben Amorim is a lucky man as his bosses at Manchester United have continued to back him despite poor results

The club hierarchy at Manchester United has decided to keep faith in coach Ruben Amorim, meaning that the 40-year-old is still safe in his position as team manager.

Since the Portuguese tactician arrived at Old Trafford, he has been under immense pressure due to a poor run of form.

Last season, Manchester United endured their worst Premier League finish in 35 years, ending up in 15th place on the log, with just 42 points.

Amorim took over the United team in the 12th round of the Premier League, but managed only  a meagre 27 points after 26 rounds of matches in the (2024/2025) season, an average of just 1.038 points per game — a ridiculous tally considering that the former Sporting Lisbon coach was brought in to steady the ship after Eric ten Hag was shown the exit door.

The 25/26 season has not been any better for the Red Devils, with a 3-0 demolition at the hands of noisy neighbours Manchester City adding to Reuben Amorim's trouble.

Despite the embarrassing defeat, Amorim has remained adamant that he would not change his tactics, even if it meant losing his job.

“I will not change my philosophy. I will continue with my ideas… if not, you have to change, change the man,” Amorim was quoted per Fabrizio Romano.

Manchester United hierarchy solidly behind Amorim

Inside sources have stated that the club hierarchy at Manchester United still believe Amorim is the right man for the job, per ESPN.

While they maintain that results must improve, the general consensus is that Amorim's side has been on the wrong end of "fine margins" at the start of the campaign.

With just four points out of a possible 12, United with just one win, one draw and two defeats sit in 14th place on the table with a home game against Chelsea next on the cards this Saturday.

Chelsea will be in action on Wednesday when they travel to Germany to face Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League, while Manchester United will be fresh since they have no european engagement, a first since the 14/15 season.
