Premier League: Can Chelsea's former player rewrite history as Nottingham host the Blues

Nottingham are one win away from repeating a double victory against Chelsea since the last time they managed this was during the 1978/79 season.

Nottingham Forest will host Chelsea on Saturday knowing full well that their destiny is in their own hands since they are just dangling over the relegation zone, on a thin three-point thread.

They will need to take three points from Chelsea if they want to stay in the Premier League. Chelsea on the other hand will be looking to boost their hopes for European football next season after United’s horror show that saw them dropping points at Palace last week.

Nottingham Forest are desperate for these points after their appeal for their four-point deduction for breaching profitability and sustainability rules was upheld in the midweek.

The Tricky Trees come into this match after breaking a two-game losing streak by taking full advantage of the already relegated Sheffield United to win 3-1 in a much-needed confidence-boosting victory.

In their defense, they will be heading into this game week with a three-point advantage and a better goal difference than Luton Town.

Chelsea aim to spoil their party as they have propelled themselves up to European contention out of nowhere. This was thanks to back-to-back derby wins that saw them move up the table. They currently sit 7th on the table just two points behind Newcastle United.

The Blues have now put together a run that features only one defeat in the last 12 premier league outings however, their away record is still wanting as they remain winless when they travel out of Stamford Bridge.

This will be a huge game for Callum Hudson-Odoi who will face the Blue after spending 16 years with them. This will also be a fixture that will bring him up to a century of premier league appearances.

When the teams met earlier in the season, Forest won a goal to nothing. Will they be able to complete the double against Chelsea this season and make it the first time they do it since the 1978/79 season? Even better, with a former Chelsea player as their front-liner?
