Harambee Stars midfielder Kenneth Muguna is optimistic Kenya can qualify for the World Cup if everyone comes together and rallies behind the team.

Kenya were placed in group F of the World Cup qualifiers against Ivory Coast, The Gambia, Seychelles, Burundi and Gabon, and will have their work cut out to make it out of that group as winners.

Muguna, who recently snubbed a return to Gor Mahia to move to moneybags Kenya Police, believes it is possible if there is wholesome support.

“We can qualify for the World Cup if we work together as a team,” Muguna told Pulse Sports. ”We have a good coach who needs a lot of support,” he added.

Muguna praised Football Kenya Federation for 'always supporting the team' and has challenged his fellow team members to replicate the faith put in them by the governing body in order to make the dream a reality.

“If we can be together and have a lot of support from everyone involved, from the fans to the federation, we can do it," he added.

“The federation always supports us. We as players now need to replicate their support. We need to give it our best shot and see if we can make it.”

Muguna played for Gor Mahia before his move to Azam. He scored five goals and provided 13 assists for the record Kenyan Premier League champions before seeking greener pastures.

He also played for Western Stima where he was named the Player of the Year and the best midfielder. The 27-year-old also played for Albanian side Tirana for a brief period in 2018.

Muguna has won 27 caps for Kenya, scoring two goals.
