The former Gor Mahia defender has explained what the brewers have worked on during the international break that should make them a force to be reckoned with

Tusker captain Charles Momanyi has revealed the things they have worked on over the international break which will put them in a good place to go full force in their race for the title this season.

The ex-Gor Mahia defender, who was appointed captain following the departure of iconic midfielder Humphrey Mieno, has revealed that the side will be unstoppable moving forward, having established a strong bond over the last two weeks where no local action took place.

“We conceded and did not want that, but over the last two weeks, we have worked a lot on our defending from the front to the back so I think that was one of our problems,” Momanyi told the club’s media on Friday.

“We have also worked on taking our chances as well so against Homeboyz, we will get a good result.”

Tusker have signed seven players in the transfer window, and on Friday, confirmed the signing of Collins Odhiambo to wrap up their business.

Momanyi believes the signings have adapted well to Robert Matano’s philosophy of winning at all costs, which should help the side in its quest to reclaim the title they lost to Gor Mahia last season.

“There are new boys who have joined us, but they have coped well and they know the team’s philosophy- there is nothing like a draw, and every game is a must win- so they know that at Tusker, you have to win," he added.

“It will not be easy, but we have prepared ourselves well. Since the international break started, we have been working on the mistakes we made against Sharks. The game against Homeboyz will be good for us.  We hope things will go well for us so that we can get all the three points, nothing else.”

Tusker will face Kakamega Homeboyz on Saturday, before facing Muhoroni Youth and Talanta in the subsequent fixtures.

A win for the brewers against Homeboyz will be the perfect way to avenge their FKF Cup loss to the same opponents two months ago.
