Mohammed Bajaber must be feeling mixed emotions after winning the FKF Premier League title while watching the club that nurtured him get relegated.

Kenya Police forward Mohammed Bajaber is among those celebrating FKF Premier League title triumph but the attacker must also be feeling sorry for his ex-club Nairobi City Stars.

Bajaber left City Stars in the midseason transfer window for Police, in a deal that has been reported to be Ksh1 million as the law enforcers displayed great ambition, and he has played his part in leading them to a maiden league title.

The young forward scored five goals for Police and also chipped in with assists as they stormed to the league triumph but where he left, the house was burning.

City Stars have struggled for consistency this season and even a late revival, when they stayed unbeaten in their final five matches, winning three, was not enough as they finished bottom of the table and ultimately got relegated.

It is not what Simba wa Nairobi had hoped for when they started the season, especially after their top half of the table finish in 2023-34, with the likes of Bajaber having offering quality this term.

City Stars Signed Bajaber After Six-Week Trial

However, a poor run from December up to May, when they won just two matches, made their stay in the top flight difficult with results elsewhere also conspiring to condemn them to the second-tier.

Bajaber’s transfer raised eyebrows initially but he has since justified the move with his great contribution but he will look back with the satisfaction of getting it right but feeling disappointed that the club which offered him a chance is no longer in the Premier League.

"I would not say I was struggling at City Stars but obvioulsy going to Police was a good move for me and I have to thank God for that," Bajaber told the media on Sunday.

The 22-year-old signed for City Stars in February 2022 after spending six weeks on trial at the club from Star Field Elite Academy, where he had spent four years.

Coach Nicholas Muyoti, then leading City Stars, was convinced that the youngster possessed the right qualities and attitude, signing him initially on loan, before the move was made permanent in 2024.

As he looks back, Bajaber will be thankful that City Stars took a chance on him while hoping to see them make an immediate return to the Premier League.
