How the Brewers picked up a win against Ingwe looks to have caught the eye of the government official.

Interior Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) Millicent Omanga lauded how Tusker grabbed a win against AFC Leopards at the Nyayo Stadium on Wednesday.

The Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) duel was headed for a goalless draw before the Brewers – after a nice build-up from deep in their area into the Leopards’ penalty box – grabbed a title-boosting victory.

The Ruaraka-based outfit posted a video of the goal that gave them the win, and the former nominated Senator commented, applauding the reigning champions.

Humphrey Mieno – sitting deep in the midfield – was the chief engineer of the move before Stewart Omondi – with an assist from fellow second-half substitute Lawrence Luvanda – scored with a perfectly timed cross.

Omondi, who replaced Eric Otieno thereafter, chose not to blow his own trumpet and instead gave credit to the team.

"It is a great moment that does not come easy in life," Omondi told the club’s website after scoring the vital goal.

"Getting such moments in football is not easy. I am pleased. It is a great moment, but I must credit the team because we fought until the last minute and we did not give up. We saw it coming.

"I feel very proud, and the team has given me much confidence. I also want to thank the technical bench for putting me in the game, which shows some confidence."

Omondi started when Tusker fought from a 2-0 goal deficit to defeat Rainbow FC 3-2 in the previous match in the FKF Cup competition.

"I got some minutes in the cup, and I think it has helped me gain confidence and courage," he concluded.

The win took Tusker’s tally to 42 points as they pile pressure on Gor Mahia, who are at the top with 46 points.
